It looks like Sylvester Stallone is set to find himself back behind bars, with Deadline reporting that Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films has given the green light to a sequel to 2013’s Escape Plan.
The sequel is being penned by Miles Chapman, who also wrote the original, and will see Stallone reprising the role of security expert Ray Breslin, although only in a supporting capacity. Stallone’s co-star in the original, Arnold Schwarzenegger, will not be returning.
Escape Plan 2 will begin pre-production in January ahead of a March shoot in Ohio and China, with the film also receiving financing from a Chinese organisation owing to the solid box office returns for the first movie in the Middle Kingdom, where it grossed $40 million of its $137 million totoal.
