Two of the hottest young directors in the game have a busy film slate, which means certain projects must be cut. And sadly, the Australian twin filmmaking duo Danny and Michael Philippou must drop out of directing Street Fighter.
The filmmakers behind 2023’s smash horror hit Talk To Me are gearing up to helm a new horror film, Bring Her Back, pushing back the development of the Street Fighter film.
With Legendary and Capcom actively developing a big-screen adaptation of the popular video game, the studio must move on and is currently seeking a replacement.
The franchise started with the 1987 arcade game Street Fighter, followed by Street Fighter II, which became a phenomenon. Then, in 1994, the first film attempt was made, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and the late Raul Julia. Decades later, the Street Fighter video game franchise is still making a splash, with the recent sixth installment coming out just last year.
