two months on from its season finale, Taylor Sheridan’s Landman has been renewed for a second season by Paramount+.
Starring Billy Bob Thorton, the series follows a billionaire in the booming oil industry in Texas as he tries to stay afloat among competition and changing sentiment of how the industry may or may not be harming the world.
The series premiered in November 2024 and wrapped its first season in January. Landman is among the many series of Sheridan’s TV empire and received widespread acclaim from critics and viewers, particularly as a current record setter for the most watched premiere and finale of any Paramount+ series.
Sheridan is most known for creating Yellowstone, which ended its five-season run just prior to Landman‘s debut. In the wake of that series’ conclusion, Sheridan has the Yellowstone prequel 1923 which just premiered its second season, as well as Lioness, which is still awaiting word on a third season, Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King.
Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, the series is a modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs. Based on the notable 11-part podcast Boomtown, the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.
Based on Christian Wallace’s podcast ‘Boomtown‘, the series features a cast that includes Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, Paulina Chávez, Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Andy Garcia, and Michael Peña.
Landman can be streamed on Paramount+.
