TBS has announced that it has renewed Seth MacFarlane’s animated comedy series American Dad for two additional seasons, which will take it through to its seventeenth season overall.
Created by MacFarlane, Matt Barker and Matt Weitzman, the show follows the adventures of patriotic CIA man Stan Smith and his dysfunctional family in Langley Falls, Virginia. It originally launched on Fox, before moving to TBS in 2014.
American Dad is set to return for its fifteenth season on February 12th at 1opm, and from February 26th it will be paired with the new animated series Final Space for a one-hour animated programming block.
Variety reports that Final Space “follows a spaceman named Gary who is working off a prison sentence and makes a mysterious new alien friend, Mooncake, whom he immediately bonds with. But what Gary doesn’t know is that his adorable new sidekick is actually wanted by the sinister Lord Commander who will stop at nothing to use Mooncake’s untapped powers for evil.”
“Animation has played a huge role in making us the #1 comedy network,” said Brett Weitz, executive vice president of programming at TBS. “We will keep the momentum going with the two season pick up of American Dad and finally introducing the world to the brilliantly constructed misadventures of Gary in Final Space.”
