Tesla-inspired horror adventure Close to the Sun arrives in the Epic Games Store this May

April 12, 2019 by Andrew Newton

Wired Productions and developer Storm in a Teacup have announced that they will be releasing their first-person horror game, Close to the Sun, on 2nd May via the Epic Games Store.  Close to the Sun provides players with an alternate 19th century to experience, one where Nikolai Tesla changed the world only for it to end up silent and mysterious.  Watch the new gameplay trailer below…

In Close to the Sun, players will travel to the year 1897 and step into the shoes of journalist Rose Archer as she sets out on a search for her sister Ada.  Her search leads her to a massive scientific vessel called Helios, a ship designed from Nikola Tesla’s vision and intended to push the boundaries of research into matter and time.  Once aboard Rose finds that not all is as it should be, an eerie silence deafens her and the stench of rotten flesh blankets the vessel.

Featuring:

  • First-person horror adventure where survival is everything.
  • Problem-solving in order to progress the story.  Find out what happened on board Tesla’s ship.
  • Danger aplenty as Rose pieces together just what happened, having no real means to defend herself.
  • Teamwork with an ally who helps Rose navigate her way through the ship’s artistic halls.
  • Nerve inducing exploration – with no weapons or means to defend herself, Rose will have to rely on running, hiding and quick thinking.
  • Explore a visually stunning environment built using Unreal Engine 4.

“May 2 can’t come quick enough for us,” said Leo Zullo, Managing Director, Wired Productions. “Our partnership with the amazing team at Epic Games has not only accelerated the development process of Close to the Sun in terms of accessing the sheer pixel-pushing grunt of Unreal Engine 4, but allowed the incredibly talented Storm in a Teacup team to showcase their collective talents to deliver a truly memorable and breath-taking first-person horror adventure.”

Close to the Sun arrives on the Epic Games Store on 2nd May.
