Earlier this year there was talk that Michael B. Jordan could pull double duty on Creed III, stepping behind the camera to make his directorial debut as well as returning as Adonis Creed, and now we have confirmation from his co-star Tessa Thompson that Jordan will indeed be helming the next movie in the Rocky spinoff series.
“He is directing the next Creed,” Thompson told MTV (via EW), before joking that she plans to use Jordan’s new status as People’s Sexiest Man Alive to her advantage on set: “It’s going to be ammo, I think, for me when he is engaging with me as a director. I’m just going to tell him to dial down the sexiness.”
Creed III will mark Jordan’s first foray into directing, and sees him following in the footsteps of Creed helmer Ryan Coogler and Creed II director Steven Caple Jr.
As yet, it’s unclear whether Sylvester Stallone will have any involvement with the film. Sly had previously stated that Creed II would mark his farewell to the role of Rocky Balboa, but he has since announced that Rocky VII is in development, along with a prequel TV series.
