Last month the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced a twenty-film longlist for the nominees for Best Visual Effects at the 89th Academy Awards, and now it has been revealed that the list has been whittled down to ten:
Arrival
The BFG
Captain America: Civil War
Deepwater Horizon
Doctor Strange
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
The Jungle Book
Kubo and the Two Strings
Passengers

From the above, five films will go on to receive a nod when the Oscar nominations are announced on January 24th ahead of the award ceremony itself on February 26th.
