Well, it’s been a bit of a wild week here at FMHQ… As regular readers will know, Flickering Myth is branching out into the world of film production with myself and longtime FM staff writer Tom Jolliffe working alongside filmmaker Nathan Shepka and the team at Shepka Productions on the gothic horror feature film The Baby in the Basket.
This week, coinciding with the news that Strive Global Media has secured worldwide sales rights on the film as will be taking it to the Marché du Film in Cannes this month, the legendary horror site Bloody Disgusting dropped the exclusive first look at the teaser artwork for The Baby in the Basket along with a selection of first look stills which quickly began travelling the internet with incredible support from the online community.
Along with Bloody Disgusting, we’d like to say thank you to Collider, Film Stories, HorrorZone, HeyUGuys, Live For Films, Blazing Minds, Back to the Movies, and The People’s Movies for their awesome coverage, as well as everyone who took a moment to check out this first sneak peek.
We’re currently full steam ahead towards finishing post-production and we’ll have more to share soon (next up will be the trailer!) but in the meantime if you’re yet to see the first images you can find them here…
It’s 1942 and World War II rages on as the nuns of isolated Scottish monastery St. Augustine’s prepare for an incoming storm front. During the night a baby in a basket is left on the doorstep and the sisters take it in to care for it. As the evening goes on, one nun, Sister Agnes soon suspects the child is the son of the Devil.
The Baby in the Basket stars Amber Doig-Thorne (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey), Michaela Longden (How to Kill Monsters), Elle O’Hara (When Darkness Falls), Lisa Riesner (Charlie’s Angels) and Nathan Shepka (Lock & Load) alongside veteran British talent Annabelle Lanyon (Legend), Maryam d’Abo (The Living Daylights) and Paul Barber (The Full Monty).
THE BABY IN THE BASKET is produced by Shepka Productions, Flickering Myth and Hidden Ridge Productions in association with Jolliffe Productions and Nerdly UK.
