We’re less than a month out now from The Batman, and if early box office tracking is accurate, the Robert Pattinson-led DC Films reboot could be on course to set a Batman franchise record with its domestic opening weekend.
According to Box Office Pro, long-range tracking estimates for the Matt Reeves-directed film are pointing to a three-day North American opening weekend of between $135 million and $185 million – a figure apparently takes into account pandemic, as well as the movie’s three-hour running time.
Should The Batman come in towards the higher end of that estimate (or exceed it), then it will top the $166 million opening of Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the $160 million opening of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight to set a new record opening for the Caped Crusader.
Either way though, it looks comfortably on course to become only the second movie to debut with $100 million plus since the COVID outbreak after Spider-Man: No Way Home, which bucked pandemic trends this past December with a $260 million domestic weekend, the second-biggest opening weekend of all time.

Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies—Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright)—amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.
When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.
