Following the success of its premiere on Monday – which drew a whopping 17.2 million viewers, and a 3.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic – CBS has ordered an additional nine episodes of its The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon, for a full-season pickup of 22 episodes.
Young Sheldon stars Iain Armitage as a young version of Jim Parson’s Sheldon Cooper, as the boy genius navigates high school whilst living with his family in Texas. Parsons narrates the series, while the cast also includes Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, Montana Jordan and Raegan Revord.

Young Sheldon becomes the first new series of the season to receive a full season pickup. It is set to return to CBS on November 2nd when it moves to its regular time period of Thursday nights where it will be paired with The Big Bang Theory.
