As reported by Variety, M. Night Shyamalan is in the early process of casting his latest film with Jojo Rabbit’s Thomasin McKenzie and Heredtiary’s Alex Wolff leading the names of stars in negotiations alongside Eliza Scanlen (Little Women), Aaron Pierre (Krypton), and Vicky Krieps (The Girl in the Spider’s Web).
Reports state that M. Night Shyamalan will write, produce and direct the still-untitled film, which is set to be released by Universal Pictures. As per usual with films from Shyamalan, the details of the plot are shrouded in secrecy. The project will remain without a release date as Universal continues to figure out its calendar, like most studios, in the wake of the global health crisis.
Shyamalan independently financed his last three Universal releases Glass, Split, and The Visit with a combined production budget of about $35 million. Those films went on to collectively gross more than $600 million worldwide and saw Shyamalan making a comeback in the eyes of many viewers. He plans to finance his next two films for Universal Pictures similarly.
M. Night Shyamalan is still serving as executive producer of Servant, a horror fiction series. The Apple TV+ show’s second season recently wrapped production, and you can check out our interview with Shyamalan about the series here.
