Netflix has announced that its live-action Sabrina, the Teenage Witch reboot The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is set to premiere on the streaming service on October 26th 2018.
The series, starring Kiernan Shipka, imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina features a cast that includes Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) as Sabrina, Jaz Sinclair (Slender Man) as Rosalind Walker, Lucy Davis (Wonder Woman) as Aunt Hilda, Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings) as Aunt Zelda, Ross Lynch (My Friend Dahmer) as Harvey Kinkle, Richard Coyle (The Collection) as Father Blackwood , Bronson Pinchot (Perfect Strangers) as Principal George Hawthorne, Michelle Gomez (Doctor Who) as Mary Wardell, Tati Gabrielle (The 100) as Prudence and newcomer Chance Perdomo as Ambrose.
Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as chief creative officer of Archie Comics, penned the script for the series and executive produces alongside Riverdale collaborators Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater and Lee Toland Krieger.
