The Conjuring 2 spinoff The Nun in development

June 16, 2016 by Gary Collinson

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that New Line Cinema is in development on The Nun, a spinoff from the hit horror sequel The Conjuring 2, which will revolve around the film’s demonic nun. The script is being written by David Leslie Johnson, who co-wrote The Conjuring 2, with James Wan executive producing.

Interestingly, the character of the nun was only created about three months before the release of The Conjuring 2, with the original cut of the sequel featuring a demonic, horned figure. However, Wan came up with the concept of the nun late in the day, prompting some last minute reshoots in March.

The Nun will be the second spinoff from the horror series following 2014’s Annabelle.
