As long as the journey has been for this upcoming update to The Crow, the reboot should be pretty interesting. With its reported $50 million budget and darker aesthetic, we could see a new version of a superhero film that we aren’t used to. Producer Sam Pressman agrees with that sentiment and goes as far as to call this reboot the “anti-Marvel film.”
During a recent interview with Deadline, Pressman opened up about 2024’s The Crow. Despite a rocky road that included a host of different directors and stars over the past decade and a half, the Lionsgate production will be quite the event according to the producer.
Pressman sings the crew’s praise to Deadline, telling the outlet, “I have the highest hopes for that, and I really love what Molly Hassell has done in pushing it up the hill, and Rupert Sanders is such a visionary.”
He goes on to explain the overall importance of The Crow to the studio’s legacy, saying the film is a “very central and integral part of our company, and I’m really proud of the progress and the work that has been done. I think the movie is just going to blow people away. Our partners want to approach it in a very 360 way, whether it be video games, an animated series, or a universe, but it’s got this cosmic legacy that can expand beyond a singular story.”
Pressman concludes with his real zinger: “We’re finally at a point where we can really explore those other avenues because it’s such a unique property in that it is not a studio film, it’s not a Marvel film – it’s kind of an anti-Marvel film.”
