Having spent the best part of a decade in Development Hell, the long-planned big screen reboot of The Crow looked ready to take flight back in 2016 when it was announced that director Corin Hardy (The Hallow) would be teaming with Jason Momoa to bring life to this new adaptation of James O’Barr’s classic comic book series.
However, as had happened with several creative teams previously, Hardy and Momoa abruptly exited the troubled project, which by this point had wound up at Sony Pictures following the bankruptcy of Relativity Media and was going by the title The Crow Reborn. And now we have a glimpse at what might have been had things worked out, with some images and video surfacing on social media showing test footage of Momoa in make-up as Eric Draven; see for yourself here…

Momoa did of course go on to enjoy enormous success with another comic book movie just months after departing The Crow Reborn, with Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Aquaman grossing $1.15 billion at the box office. He’s currently shooting the sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, while it was announced last year that The Crow reboot was being moved back into active development at Sony, with the studio looking to bring on board a new writer and director to retool the project.
