The CW orders The Lost Boys TV pilot

January 24, 2019 by Gary Collinson

After a failed attempt three years ago, The CW is now taking a second stab at bringing The Lost Boys to the small screen, with Deadline reporting that the network has placed a pilot order for a reimagining of the iconic 1987 vampire horror-comedy.

The pilot has been created by writer Heather Mitchell (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy) and will be produced by Warner Bros. Television and Gulfstream TV.

The CW’s first attempt at a Lost Boys TV series was created by Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars, iZombie), and was envisioned as an anthology series, where each of the seven seasons would span a different decade and the human characters and settings would change. Plot details for this new take are being kept under wraps.

Directed by Joel Schumacher, The Lost Boys followed two brothers who move to a small town in California inhabited by a gang of vampires. Featuring in the cast were Corey Haim, Jason Patric, Corey Feldman, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Dianne Wiest, Edward Hermann and Barnard Hughes. It was followed by straight to video sequels in 2008 and 2010.
