It looks like Danish filmmaker Nikolaj Arcel has found his next project after the upcoming Stephen King adaptation The Dark Tower, with The Tracking Board reporting that he has signed on to direct the Robert F. Kennedy biopic RFK, which has Matt Damon attached to the title role.
The younger brother of President John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy served as U.S. Attorney General under JFK and President Lyndon B. Johnson, and was also the United States junior senator from New York between 1965 and his assassination in 1968.
RFK is described as a long time passion project of Damon’s, who is also producing the project for Warner Bros., and will be based on a script by Arcel, Rasmus Heisterberg and Felipe Marino. Production on the film is slated to begin early in 2018, with an eye for an awards-qualifying release later in the year.
Arcel’s next film The Dark Tower is set for release on August 4th in the States and August 18th in the UK.
