In a recent report by Variety, it is suggested that Warner Bros. is finally ready to move forward with production on The Flash after several delays. However, don’t get too excited as filming won’t begin until at least 2021. Here’s what Variety said regarding The Flash movie:
“Production on The Flash won’t be able to start until Ezra Miller finishes up work on the next Fantastic Beasts film, which means that cameras are unlikely to roll until 2021.”
Warner Bros. has tapped It director Andy Muschietti to direct the film from a script Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, who has penned the upcoming Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and also remains attached to a Batgirl movie).
Based upon the statement by Variety, it sounds like the only factor holding up production on the DC property at this point is Ezra Miller’s commitment to the other WB project – Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts. This is understandable as scheduling two major franchises will be extremely difficult, even within the same company.
