Jessie Robertson reviews the third episode of The Flash season 5…
The Flash hits a homerun in week 3…
The Good (I liked a lot this week)
– Sherloque Wells – our newest Wells debuts and hits a freakin’ home run. Again, I’m left with the same feeling as the Wells from season 3 (was it?) the fraud, where how long does this joke last? But, knowing the brilliant Tom Cavanagh, it will hit for a while. Picking up right where Cisco and Wells left off.
– Caitlin getting her own story line this week was a pleasant surprise. Perhaps she will get a fulfilling storyline this year. I actually loved watching her look at the elemental game left in her father’s file and watching her smile; it really warms the soul as she has been a bit mistreated for the majority of the show.
– Death of Vibe – not sure how this plays. This puts Cisco in the backburner a bit and I think he’s finally wearing off on his post-breakup because I’m really over it.
– Darkly warm scene of Cicada watching over his daughter
– Really cool quotes tonight: “Even the League” – teasing a JLA in the future from Nora; “I saw you post that!” – Ralph to patrons in the convenience store he saved; “I’m taking you!” – Cisco leading the new Wells after a bizarre fake death.
The Bad:
– Not bad. but jury’s still out on Cicada…..there’s a lot left to explain here.
– Not near enough Joe, not near enough.
– Still love Nora….and the lessons Barry is trying to teach her. The Iris scenes are kinda hard to watch though.
This week I’m going 9.0 – a very good entertaining episode and I loved the pacing of all of the storylines. It didn’t feel overwhelmed and even with the ‘Death of Vibe’ which is arguable if that character really is central to the show (Cisco is) so we’ll see. I also am intrigued about the scar of Cicada, so Flash is off and running (yes, totally made the pun.)
