Deadline is reporting that The CW is about to close a deal with leading man Grant Gustin to return for a ninth (and potentially final) season of its hit DC superhero series The Flash.
There had been some speculation that Gustin could follow in the footsteps of Stephen Amell, who called time on his role as Oliver Queen in Arrow after eight seasons. However, The Flash looks set to become the Arrowverse’s longest-running series with the actor reportedly agreeing a one-year contract for a ninth season.
According to the trade, Gustin was offered a multi-year deal but instead restricted himself to a single season, with a maximum commitment of 15 episodes and a pay cheque in excess of $200,000 per episode.
It’s expected that The CW will announce the renewal once the ink dries on the contract, but whether it’ll be announced as the final chapter or not, we shall have to wait and see.
The eighth season of The Flash will resume on The CW on March 9th.
