The Fugitive coming to 4K Ultra HD for 30th anniversary

October 6, 2023 by Ricky Church

The Fugitive is one of the most iconic movies in both Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones’ long careers and to celebrate its 30th anniversary Warner Bros. has announced it will be released on 4K UHD on November 21st.

Based on the 1960s TV series, The Fugitive follows Ford’s Dr. Richard Kimble as he is wrongfully convicted for the murder of his wife. After Kimble escapes a prison transport, a massive manhunt is led by Jones’ US Marshal Samuel Gerrard and his team. Kimble begins a mission to discover the real culprit behind his wife’s murder while evading Gerrard dogged pursuit.

Directed by Andrew Davis, The Fugitive proved to be a huge hit and became one of the biggest films in Ford and Jones’ careers. It was nominated for several Academy Awards including Best Picture with Jones winning for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Gerrard. The film has even been parodied numerous times through shows like The Simpsons or Leslie Nielsen’s parody Wrongfully Accused. In 1998 a sequel was made with Gerrard and his Marshals hunting another escaped prisoner who also claims to be innocent of the crime he was convicted for.
