The Gang is going back to school. FX’s hit comedy series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is set to crossover with ABC’s own hit comedy Abbott Elementary later this season.
Always Sunny star Rob McElhenney revealed the news on Twitter with a photo of him and his co-stars Charlie Day and Danny DeVito alongside Abbott Elementary‘s Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams and William Stanford Davis.
The crossover has been teased for several months by Abbott‘s cast even as some of them were kept in the dark about which show the crossover would be with. At this summer’s San Diego Comic Con, all Brunson, who created the series and won a Golden Globes for Best Actress in a comedy series for her role, vaguely hinted that the crossover would “change television as we know it.”

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been running for nearly two decades with the 17th season currently in production. The series stars McElheneey, Day, DeVito, Glenn Howerton and Kaitlin Olson as a group of delinquent and selfish adults who ruin each other’s lives as well as those around them in their hairbrained schemes to get rich or achieve petty vengeance. It is unknown if Howerton and Olson will also appear in the crossover.
Abbott Elementary is a mockumentary comedy about the staff at an underfunded school in Philadelphia. It stars Brunson, Williams, Davis, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti and Sheryl Lee Ralph. The fourth season will premiere on October 9th.
