Deadline is reporting that Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom), Betty Gilpin (GLOW), William Sadler (Power) and Frankie Faison (Banshee) have joined the cast of Sony and Ghost House Pictures’ horror remake The Grudge.
The new film, a remake of the 2004 movie (which was itself a remake of the 2002 Japanese horror Ju-on: The Grudge), is being directed by Nicolas Pesce (The Eyes of My Mother), with sam Raimi and Rob Tapert producing.
The new cast additions join the previously announced Andrea Riseborough (Oblivion), Demian Bichir (A Better Life), Lin Shaye (Insidious) and John Cho (Star Trek Beyond).
The original Grudge starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as a nurse who finds herself afflicted by a curse that created uncontrollable homicidal rage. It grossed almost $190 million worldwide, and was followed by sequels in 2006 and 2009.
