Oliver Jackson-Cohen, the star of The Haunting of Hill House, says its sequel series, The Haunting of Bly Manor, is equally as brilliant.
Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House was a big success for the streaming service, delighting and terrifying audiences in equal measure. It went down so well, that creator Mike Flanagan is making a successor series called The Haunting of Bly Manor.
The show will have a new story and characters but will feature much of the same cast. This includes Oliver Jackson-Cohen, who has hailed Bly Manor as equal to Hill House, praising Flanagan’s talents in the process. Speaking to Screen Rant, he said:
“The hard thing is, is The Haunting of Hill House was – this makes me sound like arrogant – such a brilliant show. I really loved it. It was such an incredible story, what Mike had done. And so the hard thing was, how’s he going to kind of make a second one and it be equally as brilliant?
“And he has, which is just phenomenal. We finished shooting. …I left The Invisible Man shoot to go and start on Bly Manor, and it’s quite the story. He’s so clever, Mike Flanagan.”
Hopefully, it won’t be too long before we get to see the show for ourselves! It’s certainly got a lot to live up to.
The Haunting of Bly Manor will air on Netflix in 2020, and features a cast that includes Hill House returnees Kate Siegel, Catherine Parker, Henry Thomas, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Victoria Pedretti along with T’Nia Miller (Years and Years), Amelia Eve (Big Boys Don’t Cry), Amelie Smith (EastEnders), Benjamin Ainsworth (Flora and Ulysses) and Rahul Kohli (iZombie).
