Deadline has revealed that Lionsgate has enlisted The Hunger Games producer Nina Jacobson, writer Peter Craig and director Francis Lawrence for an adaptation of Homer’s epic tale The Odyssey.
The site reports that the studio is keen to fast track the project, and aims to begin shooting early next year once Lawrence and company have finished the promotional tour for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.
Homer’s Greek epic follows The Iliad, and tells the story of Odysseus’ adventures during his ten-year journey home following the Trojan War and the fall of Troy.
As it happens, Warner Bros. also announced an adaptation of The Odyssey last year, with Fedor Bondarchuk (Stalingrad) set to helm Odysseus.
