When The Leftovers delivers its final moments there will be no “dangling threads” or chance for a spin-off according to showrunner Damon Lindelof.
Following the news of how the third and final season of The Leftovers will pick up on events, showrunner Damon Lindelof has now declared that there is zero chance of any type of continuation for the series once the final episode airs.
Speaking to Variety, Lindelof said, “This is it; we left no dangling threads, no to be continued, no spinoff possibilities. We made pretty sure that this was going to be the last season of the show,” and then adding, “The audience deserves as satisfying an ending as we can give them. I don’t think anyone wants to see a question mark at the end of this.”
It seems obvious with how Lost (Lindelof’s former show) ended with its various loose ends and an unfinished nature to the story that he wants to continue rectifying the mistakes of that show and deliver a final, concrete ending that fans can enjoy.
Let’s hope he is able to do so. With a show this bizarre it will be no easy task.
The Leftovers returns for one last time to HBO on April 16th.
