With The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power officially greenlit for a third season, the series has already announced new cast members with Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things) and Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan) joining the series.
Bower is most known for his roles in The Twilight Saga, Sweeney Todd and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. He most recently starred in Kevin Costner’s Horizon: an American Saga – Chapter 1, but his most significant recent role has been the supernatural and villainous Vecna in the fourth season of Stranger Things, a role he is reprising in the upcoming fifth and final season.
Bower will be a series regular for The Rings of Power‘s third season in what is said to be a significant role. Details are being kept under wraps, but his character is described as “a handsome high-born knight (code name Arlen).”
Marsen, meanwhile, will have a recurring role whose details are also kept under wraps, but his character’s codename is Dromm and has a brother.
The third season of Rings of Power will begin with a large time jump from the events of the second season finale as the war against Sauron is in full force across Middle-earth. J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will continue to showrun and executive produce the series.
Jumping forward several years from the events of season 2, season 3 takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war and conquer all Middle-earth at last.
