After conquering the small screen, The Mandalorian & Grogu will now head to the galaxy far, far away called the cinemas.
News has broken today that Star Wars and Lucasfilm will now develop a film based on the adventures of Mando and Grogu. Serving as a feature film spinoff of The Mandalorian, the now-iconic unlikely duo and their space missions are set to be the next major release planned from the studio.
The film will be directed by Jon Favreau and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni. At the time of reporting, there’s no word on the status of Pedro Pascal returning as Din Djarin.
In the press release, Jon Favreau teases: “I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen,” added Kennedy.
The Mandalorian & Grogu joins Lucasfilm’s ongoing feature-development slate, including other films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni, who is also confirmed to be developing a second season of Star Wars: Ahsoka.
