Phil Szostak, an exec at Lucasfilm, has somewhat defended Baby Yoda eating the Frog Lady’s eggs in The Mandalorian but says it was “intentionally disturbing”.
Star Wars fans around the world have fallen in love with Baby Yoda, expecting cuteness galore every time they tune in to a new episode of The Mandalorian.
However, during episode two of season two, many were shocked to see the character gobble down the unfertilised eggs of Mando’s latest companion, Frog Lady.
The eggs are Frog Lady’s last hope to save her species but for Baby Yoda, they are delicious and he can’t help himself. This gruesome act has been defended, however, by Lucasfilm creative art manager Phil Szostak.
On Twitter he said: “For the record, Chapter 10 of The Mandalorian makes it clear that the Frog Lady’s eggs are unfertilized, like the chicken eggs many of us enjoy. But obviously, chickens aren’t sentient beings and the Child eating the eggs is intentionally disturbing, for comedic effect. Fans of horror know that disturbing things make some of us laugh and some of us squirm, or both. Your mileage may vary.”

No matter how you feel about Baby Yoda’s recent behaviour, hopefully, he will learn to leave the eggs alone in episode three!
The Mandalorian season two sees Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Gina Carano (Cara Dune), Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon) and Bill Burr (Mayfield) joined by new cast additions Temuera Morrison (Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones), Katee Sackhoff (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Michael Biehn (The Terminator) and WWE Superstar Sasha Banks.
