It looks like the Muppets may be heading back to the small screen, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that The Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady is developing a reboot of The Muppet Show, which is being eyed as a straight-to-series variety show at ABC.
According to the site, a pilot presentation is being filmed next week, with Prady co-writing alongside Bob Kushell (Anger Management) and Randall Einhorn (Wilfred) directing. The project will bring back the original cast of Muppets, who “excitedly gather at ABC for a meeting about the new Muppet Show. However, the show will not move forward unless Miss Piggy signs on.”
The original Muppet Show was produced by Jim Henson for the UK’s ITV, with the show running for 120 episodes across five seasons between 1976 and 1981.
