Prepare yourself for the darkest and scariest entry in the Conjuring Universe yet. As the director Michael Chaves promised, The Nun II is set to scare the viewers.
In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, Chaves told fans that he plans to take this franchise to dark and violent places fans have yet to see, noting: “I think that this does get darker. Even audiences have said this when we screened it. It is definitely more violent than what they expected from a Conjuring movie.”
“It’s always a delicate balance,” he adds. “It’s definitely scary; it’s 100% delivered on that. Just as horror audiences have developed the appetite for horror, the appetite for violence has started to increase, and so there are some violent elements in this.”
Chaves also teases this film will not be the end of our demonic nun, saying, “There’s a line in the movie: ‘Demons are infinite.’ I like the idea that she’s always been here in different forms. I think that there’s still more stories of Valak, the demon nun, to be told.”
The Nun II is the ninth installment in The Conjuring Universe franchise. The film will star the returning Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, and Bonnie Aarons, with Storm Reid and Anna Popplewell joining the cast.
1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit follows Sister Irene as she once again comes face-to-face with Valak, the demon nun.
The Nun II is in cinemas from September 8th.
