A new report reveals that the Academy is considering a postponement to the 2021 Oscars.
The global health crisis has upended most things in life and Hollywood has certainly been no different. Now, with all the delays, digital releases, trouble completing films, and social distancing measures, the Academy is considering a delay to next year’s Oscars.
The report comes from Variety who says that an anonymous source told them: “It’s likely they’ll be postponed.”
The plans at this time are not concrete however, as the outlet adds: “However, that person cautioned that the details, including potential new dates, have not been fully discussed or formally proposed yet. Another source says the date is currently unchanged at ABC.”
The telecast is currently set for February 28th, 2021. With all the problems Hollywood is facing right now, perhaps it is unsurprising that changes to the year’s biggest celebration of film will be impacted too.
