You can put forth all the sugar, spice, and everything nice, but you still won’t be able to bring The Powerpuff Girls to live-action.
After delay after delay, especially following the reported disastrous pilot, TV Line says The CW is no longer movie ahead with its planned live-action adaptation of The Powerpuff Girls.
Powerpuff was set to star Dove Cameron (Descendants) as Bubbles, Yana Perrault (Jagged Little Pill) as Buttercup, Chloe Bennet (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Blossom, Donald Faison (Scrubs) as Professor Utonium, Nicholas Podany (Hart of Dixie) as Mojo Jojo Jr, and Robyn Lively (Light As A Feather) as Sara Bellum, with the original series’ Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) back as narrator.
Chloe Bennet was the first to exit the project, and since that announcement in 2021, there’s been radio silence about the series. Dove Cameron spoke about retooling the plot, which she said was based on adjusting the tone. Powerpuff was supposed to be led by the same creative team of Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody.
The original creator behind the animated series, Craig McCracken, is currently working on an animated reboot.
