Here’s some exciting news for Marvel fans…
According to TV Line, Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle is set to headline his own series following his debut in the upcoming second season of Daredevil, with the site reporting that Netflix is in development on The Punisher and close to giving it the official green light.
The new series would mark Netflix’s sixth Marvel show; we’ve already seen Daredevil and Jessica Jones, with Luke Cage currently in production and Iron Fist and The Defenders still to come.

UPDATE: During the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos said “there’s nothing to talk about” regarding The Punisher (although EW is corroborating the earlier report and claims Netflix is looking for a showrunner), but he did say that more series are certainly a possibility:
“Any character that’s in there is on the table … It’s always possible. All the characters in the universe could also spin out. Right now, these are produced at the scale of a major film, so there are long production times and long post times. In some case, when we have character crossover, it makes it more difficult to manage production. It’s not the goal to put out more than one or two out a year. The complex one is really The Defenders. Its production schedule will determine a lot of the season 2 and 3 output of those shows.”
The second season of Daredevil will hit Netflix on March 18th and features a cast that includesCharlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Matt Gerald (Melvin Potter), Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/The Punisher), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Elodie Yung (Elektra), Scott Glen (Stick) and Stephen Rider (Blake Tower).
