It seems the 2011 Indonesian film The Raid, or as it is known in the US market The Raid: Redemption, will be getting a Western remake starring Frank Grillo and directed by Joe Carnahan.
The remake will be produced by XYZ Films, the same company that made the first Raid, as well as executive produced by original direct Gareth Evans. XYZ made the announcement over their Twitter page with a video in which Grillo said it would not be so much a remake, but a “reimagining”.

The Raid sees an elite DEA FAST team get trapped in a tenement run his a drug lord and his gang the size of a small militia along with two killers skilled in martial arts. The team must find a way to escape the building and fight to survive.
Its not known who will be writing the script yet or how this will affect Carnahan’s Bad Boys for Life. Carnahan also took to his own Twitter to explain the process behind this reimagining to the masses…
