The upcoming Smurfs movie from Parmaount has a lovely line-up of actors to bring to life the blue icons.
At CinemaCon on Thursday, the studio announced who would voice the cast in The Smurfs, which cast a major pop star-turned-actor in the lead role.
Rihanna was previously announced for the project, but now we’ve learned the animated adventure has packed a massive all-star cast. Joining the performers are Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, Alex Winter, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña with Kurt Russell and John Goodman.
Little is known as the project, but the movie was described at the time as a comedic, musical adventure “that sets out to answer one of life’s biggest questions: What is a Smurf?”
Chris Miller will direct the new movie based on the Peyo characters. Matt Landon will serve as a co-director. Ryan Harris, Rihanna, Laurence “Jay” Brown, and Tyran “Ty-Ty” Smith are producers.
Expect the film to be a music-filled journey, as Rihanna is penning original songs for The Smurfs. Paramount chief Brian Robbins praised the performer as “the most legendary Smurfette ever.”
The movie hits theaters on February 14, 2025.
