The original Star Wars trilogy is heading back to the big screen this summer, with the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema chain organising a special roadshow triple-bill of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi across more than 20 cities in the States.
“It’s always been a dream to show the original Star Wars trilogy again – somehow, someway,” states Alamo Drafthouse’s VP of Special Events, Henri Mazza. “Seeing the Original Trilogy on the big screen for the first time is a real life-altering event and just a supreme amount of fun. When the films became available to book for screenings like these, we jumped at the chance to do something big.”
Sadly, fans hoping to see the unaltered, original cuts will be disappointed to hear that the films will be screened in their 1997 Special Edition formats.
Tickets for the ‘Return of the Trilogy’ roadshow will go on sale on Star Wars Day (May 4th) via the official website ReturnOfTheTrilogy.com.
