If you were hoping for more Stargate, the wait is going to be longer.
In 2019, Stargate SG-1 series co-creator Brad Wright spoke about a possible reboot, with MGM tapping him to work on a new script. Sadly, it seems like that version of the long-in-development reboot is now over.
When a Stargate SG-1 fan asked on Twitter, Wright explained that he had nothing to offer in terms of news.
“You won’t hear news from me. MGM did hire me to write a pilot for a new show, but that was just before COVID hit. Timing couldn’t have been much worse. All the players have changed in the interim, so it’s likely destined to gather dust. Would’ve been fun, though.”
Wright does add he feels like the studio will move forward with another version soon enough.
“MGM/Amazon will make another Stargate. It may just take some time for them to decide what they want to do. But they own it. Not me. I believe the franchise should return with or without me. And either way, I look forward to it.”
The latest version would’ve added to the SG-1 canon, which includes shows like Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe.
You can now watch Stargate SG-1 on Amazon Prime and Netflix.
