The Toxic Avenger remake rated R for strong violence, gore and graphic nudity

May 14, 2022 by EJ Moreno

You better aim for that strong R-rating when you decide to remake a Troma classic. Thankfully, Legendary Entertainment’s upcoming remake of The Toxic Avenger will bring the gore and the gags upon its release.

The MPAA has announced that the new Toxic Avenger will receive an R-rating, for “strong violence and gore, language throughout, sexual references and brief graphic nudity.” Basically, everything you need from a Troma movie!

As per Deadline, the contemporary re-imagining of the cult classic “is steeped in environmental themes and subverts the superhero genre in the vein of Deadpool. When a struggling everyman is pushed into a vat of toxic waste, he is transformed into a mutant freak who must go from shunned outcast to underdog hero as he races to save his son, his friends, and his community from the forces of corruption and greed.”

The Toxic Avenger is directed by Macon Blair and stars Elijah Wood, Julia Davis, Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon, Peter Dinklage, and Jacob Tremblay. At the time of reporting, the film is yet to receive a release date.
