Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead, has offered an update on the upcoming Rick Grimes feature film, starring Andrew Lincoln following his departure from the long-running TV series.
During this weekend’s virtual Skybound Xpo panel, Kirkman discussed how the ongoing global health crisis has inadvertently made the project better as they can spend more time on the scripts.
“There’s tons of stuff going on behind the scenes,” Kirkman said. “I don’t want anyone to think that we’re just kind of waiting around for this pandemic to end. I would say that, if anything, the pandemic is going to make a lot of movies better. I think the Rick Grimes movie chief among them, just because we’re getting a lot more time to cook this thing and make sure it’s perfect. But when things do quiet down, you guys are going to hear a ton more about this movie.”
While we don’t know much regarding the plot details of the Rick Grimes focused feature film, The Walking Dead producer Scott Gimple, has previously teased that the fan-favourite character Michonne – played by Danai Gurira – could potentially reappear in the upcoming movie trilogy after leaving the series during the tenth season.
