The Walking Dead will be getting some flashbacks in future episodes

January 24, 2019 by Samuel Brace

To help explain events that took place during the recent time jump, The Walking Dead will be getting some helpful flashbacks.

The Walking Dead has undergone some massive changes recently, it’s certainly not the same show it once was. One of the biggest moves was the massive time jump of six years and this, of course, has provided a lot of mystery in regards to what happened during this span of time.

One such mystery involves the strange scars on Daryl and Michonne, something that might soon be answered via some helpful flashbacks that the show is planning on introducing in season nine’s second half.

Speaking about the upcoming flashbacks to EW, showrunner Angela Kang said; “We’ll see. It will be used, I’ll say, it’s more than once. It’s a little different each time. It’s something that tells specific pieces of backstory that I think are useful to understanding who some of our characters are and why they’re at where they’re at.”

Do you think flashbacks are a good idea for The Walking Dead? Or would you rather the show found other ways of revealing backstory that took place during the time jump? Let us know in the comments below or on social media…

The second half of The Walking Dead season nine finds our groups of survivors, both old and new, continuing to deal with the impact of events that took place during the six years that have passed. Since the disappearance of Rick, many of these characters have become strangers to each other, and in some ways, strangers to themselves. What they do know is that they are in undeniable danger. They will soon realise the world just beyond does not operate as they thought. The group’s rules and ways of survival no longer guarantee their safety. A whole new threat has crossed their paths, and they soon discover it’s unlike any threat they have encountered or endured before. The group will start to question what they think they see. What may appear to be normal in this post-apocalyptic world could actually be more disturbing and terrifying than when the apocalypse first broke out. All that is certain is the stakes are high and numerous.

The Walking Dead season 9 airs on Sundays in the US and on Mondays in the UK.
