Mike White may have things on pause for The White Lotus Season 3 due to the WGA Strike, but that doesn’t mean he can’t tease where he’d like to see the series head.
White was recently in Sydney, Australia, at a festival with the show’s star, Jennifer Coolidge. During a press conference, the series creator dove into where he’d like to see the series go after the upcoming third season. He says he’d like a future installment to be a bit Down Under-focused.
“My dream would be to hit every continent, so yeah, this is like its own continent, basically,” he said. “We kind of have to come to Australia if we keep going.” White praises the Australian talent. He notes, “It would be so fun. Obviously, there’s a huge wealth of talent here, and the beauty is inarguable, so it feels like it checks all the boxes.”
Adding to the conversation, when asked where she would want the series to take place, Coolidge said, “Australia gets my vote.”
The conversation turns to a possible prequel series centered around Coolidge’s character, Tanya McQuoid. The fan-favorite character made quite the splash before her untimely death in Season 2 of The White Lotus. White says the idea has been floated around.
“I absolutely think that’s possible; we were just talking about that,” White said. “It’s a funny idea. And making Jennifer, you know, 20 years younger, that would be fun too. I think Jennifer’s like, ‘Sure, let’s do it!’.”
Little is known about The White Lotus Season 3, but rumors have swirled the series is heading to Thailand, according to sources close to the production.
