Coming Soon is reporting that Andrzej Sapkowski novel series Witcher is heading to the big screen, with the Sean Daniel Company announcing a movie adaptation for 2017.
The film will be directed by Tomasz Baginski (The Cathedral), who helmed the opening cinematics for the first two instalments of the popular video game series, from a script by Thania St. John (Grimm).
Based on the short stories The Witcher and Lesser Evil, the movie “will be an introduction to Geralt the witcher, a nomadic monster hunter for hire, and his duel world of men and beasts.”
Sapowski’s book series was previously adapted for the big screen with the 2001 Polish movie The Witcher (a.k.a. The Hexer), which was followed by a thirteen episode TV series.
