Ruben Fleischer, the director of Venom, says that there is no reason to release an unrated cut of the film.
Thanks to early reports and the fact that the film would star an infamous Spider-Man villain, many thought that Venom would be a violent and perhaps R-rated affair. While the film has proved to be very popular around the world, Venom ended up opting for the PG-13 route.
Fans have made their desires known for an unrated cut to be released on home video, however, director of the film, Ruben Fleischer says that there really is no need for this. Speaking to LRM, the filmmaker said:
“I’m proud of the movie we’ve put out, and I think that the additional material on the DVD adds a little bit of color to the film. I don’t feel the need at this point to release an unrated version, I feel like fans seem to really like the movie that we put out.”
Does this news disappoint you at all? Venom has now crossed the $850 million mark worldwide so it seems that the film which is out in the wild is pleasing many despite its PG-13 rating…
