Thief is the latest big game franchise to be adapted into a movie, if a report from The Tracking Board is to be believed.
Vertigo Films and Prime Universe are developing the film, while Adrian Askarieh and Roy Lee are set to produce it. The two of them are also in charge of another game adaptation coming soon – Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Askarieh has worked on game adaptations before, having released Hitman in 2007, while currently working on a reboot.
The publication doesn’t mention the plot of the reported Thief movie, but you can expect main character Garrett to have an important role of some kind. The Thief series began in 1998 with Thief: The Dark Project, which was followed by two more games. The latest instalment in the franchise, simply named Thief, was released for the newest set of consoles – amongst a myriad of other platforms – to mixed reviews.
Thief is just one of many game adaptations in production, including Assassin’s Creed, Warcraft, Splinter Cell and The Last of Us.
