Polish your finest silver, because Downton Abbey is set for a third big-screen outing from series creator Julian Fellowes.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Focus Features and Carnival Films are organising another elite gathering for the inhabitants of Downton Abbey, with Simon Curtis returning to direct following his work on 2022’s Downton Abbey: A New Era.
Downtown Abbey 3 will bring back Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, and Michelle Dockery, along with Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Phyllis Logan, Robert James-Collier, Joanne Froggatt, Allen Leech, Penelope Wilton, Lesley Nicol, Michael Fox, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Kevin Doyle, Harry Hadden-Paton, Sophie McShera and Douglas Reith.
Dominic West will return to reprise his role as Guy Dexter from A New Era, while recent Academy Award nominee Paul Giamatti will also step up from the small-screen adventures of Downton by bringing back his character of Cora Grantham’s brother, Harold Levinson. New additions to the cast include Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan.
Based on the critically-acclaimed TV series which ran between 2010 and 2015, the first Downton Abbey movie grossed over $194 million worldwide upon its release in 2019, while the sequel earned $92 million at the global box office.
