Sticking with the MCU for a moment, and Evangeline Lilly has taken to Twitter to share a behind-the-scenes photo from Ant-Man and The Wasp alongside her co-star Hannah John-Kamen, who is taking on the role of the films’ villain The Ghost. While there are rumours floating around a potential movie about the Manson murders with Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence, Quentin Tarantino has also spoken publicly about tackling a movie in the Star Trek universe. “[That] would be worth having a meeting about,” he told TMZ. Read more here.
It was announced in 2015 that Matthew Vaughn had signed on to direct a remake of Flash Gordon, but the director has now said it likely won’t happen because two other big space franchises. “For me, the only problem with Flash Gordon is Guardians of the Galaxy kind of stole what I would have liked to have done with it,” he told Collider. “You’ve got Star Wars, you’ve got Guardians, so you’ve got to have your own space opera, but you have to find something that can survive among these two very, very great franchises.” Read more here.
BATMAN V SUPERMAN STILL MAKING HEADLINES
Although the dust has settled on the critical derision for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – although that could all come flooding back when Justice League is released – people are still talking about it. In a new interview with Cinema Blend, comic book legend Dave Gibbons (Watchman) explained what he thinks went wrong with the movie, particularly in the light of Kingsman: The Golden Circle‘s bright tone. “I think, as I said earlier, the trend in entertainment now is to actually come up with something which is more entertaining, which is less dark, which is much more full of hope,” he said. “And I think probably the failure of the Superman-Batman movie was that it was really too dark, and that Superman was made as dark as Batman. And to me, that really doesn’t work, I thought that’s the perfect opportunity to contrast the two characters.” Read more here.
