Despite being cancelled by ABC last month, the Tim Allen comedy series Last Man Standing could be set for a reprieve, with THR reporting that CMT is in early talks to revive the show for a seventh season.
According to reports, it is unclear whether a deal will be reached given the cost of the show, with insiders claiming that it is “a long shot”. Nevertheless, it is said that 20th Century Fox Television is placing calls to writers about the potential revival.
UPDATE: THR is now reporting that the renewal has fallen through, and at this stage it looks highly unlikely that we’ll be seeing the show making a return.
Last Man Standing premiered in 2011, and ran for a total of 130 episodes. Its cancellation came as a surprise given that the series had been pulling in solid ratings in its Friday night slot, with Allen stating at the time that he was “stunned” and “blindsided” by the decision.
