Timothy Hutton joins Amazon’s Jack Ryan series in recurring role

March 17, 2017 by Ricky Church

Its been a little while since we’ve heard anything about Amazon’s Jack Ryan based on Tom Clancy’s character and stories – the last being Mortem Tyldum hired to direct the pilot in January – but we’ve now got an update on the upcoming series.

Actor Timothy Hutton, known for Leverage and American Crime, has been cast in a recurring role as Singer, the CIA’s Deputy Director of Operations.

Jack Ryan stars The Office‘s John Krasinski as the title character just as he’s joined the CIA as an analyst. The series will see him uncover a pattern in terrorist communications that puts him at the centre of a terrorist plot that could destabilize the entire world. Jack Ryan comes from Lost‘s Carlton Cuse and Fringe‘s Graham Roland. Roland wrote the pilot based on a story he and Cuse developed and both will act as executive producers.

Also starring in the series is Abbie Cornish as female lead Cathy Mueller, a doctor specializing in infectious diseases. Peter Fonda, Kenny Wong, Mena Massoud and John Hoogenakker will also co-star in the series.
