Coinciding with the premiere of Babylon Berlin on Netflix, Titan Comics and Hard Case Crime have announced a graphic novel adaptation of the book that inspired the acclaimed TV series.
Titan’s Babylon Berlin – written and illustrated by Arne Jysch – is brand-new graphic novel adaptation of the book that inspired the new TV series by international-bestselling writer, Volker Kutscher. Set in Berlin, 1929, the story centers on Detective Gereon Rath pulled into a web of drugs, sex, political intrigue and murder.
The TV series, which aired in Europe in October 2017 to huge critical acclaim, is a 16-part crime drama set in the hedonistic days of 20s and 30s Weimar Germany. Directed by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run), Babylon Berlin is the most expensive drama in European history, costing a reported $47 million and filmed over seven months in 300 locations. The New York Times has praised the show’s “lavish production” and said it “lovingly recreates the city’s 1920s streets, cafes and nightclubs.” The Financial Times called the TV show “wonderfully gripping” with The Guardian adding it has “plenty of contemporary resonance.”
Look for Babylon Berlin in bookstores from February 27th 2018.
